We’re thrilled to announce that three very talented women will be joining us at Aluna for the 2015-16 season.
Playwright in Residence Marilo Nuñez has been working in Canadian theatre for over 20 years as an actor, playwright, producer and director. She was the founding Artistic Director of Alameda Theatre Company. Current: Playwright-in-Residence at Aluna Theatre (Toronto), member of Theatre Aquarius’s Playwright’s Unit (Hamilton) and was member of the Tarragon Playwrights Unit (2013). Her first play, Three Fingered Jack & the Legend of Joaquin Murieta, was published in Fronteras Vivientes by Playwrights Canada Press. Marilo is a graduate of Ryerson Theatre School.
Metcalf Artistic Intern Victoria Mata is a Venezuelan-Canadian choreographer and producer with a background in urban planning. Victoria’s career was sculpted by pedagogic training, which proceeded with a diverse range of residencies, mentorships and a Masters in Contemporary Choreography. Victoria’s is thrilled to further her passion in border stories and translations of language, body, and technology with Aluna Theater.
OAC Artistic Intern Liliana Suárez is an actress, director and drama teacher and is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Antioquia. As an actor she has worked with some of the most respected theatre directors of Colombia, such as José Manuel Freidel, Rodrigo Saldarriaga, Fernando Velazquez and Beatriz Pizano. She has participated in various theatre festivals, including the Manizales Theatre Festival, Colombia, the Golden Age Festival in Houston, Texas, Pan American Routes in Toronto, Canada, Tiempos de Magdalena in Quito, Ecuador. She has also worked as a teacher and director in Colombia and Canada with institutions such as the INCI (National Institute for the Blind), Friends of the Handicapped and Mennonite New Life Centre. She has now been living in Canada with her family for more than 10 years.
