Durational, 24 hours
Quiero-Estar-Contigo is a living installation. A painting in motion inspired by Frida Kahlo’s self portrait of The Two Fridas. But, unlike the painting where one is refracted, the two of us are unquestionably different. Through a series of imagistic explorations we attempt to deconstruct tradition to interrogate the complexities of intercultural legacies and inheritance. As we are able to materialize and inhabit these worlds within us, we imagine what it means for us to mix our blood, tangle our roots, what it means to collide and pull apart our identities individually and in relation to each other. How we perform self, how we perform queerness, Mexican-ness, Chinese-ness, woman-ness, halfness. What it means for us to be and in being we never stop becoming.
