Join us for the opening night of RUTAS 2018!
Following the performance of Del Manantial del Corazón, we gather to open festival artist in residence Dani Zelko’s exhbition of Reunión, and then dance the night away in the RUTAS cabaret with local favourites – percussive trio Baobá.

About the artist
Baobá is a trio formed by Toronto’s top female percussionists taking traditional beats to the next level. Empowered by the natural musicality that flows from South American bodies, Anita Graciano, Y Josephine and Mari Palhares, representing Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil respectively, demonstrate an ideal mix of voice, melody, and instrumentation.
Anita, Y, and Mari, planted this Baobá seed way back on the common ground of friendship and continuous art making… The group mostly performs original songs, old school Latin covers, cumbia, salsa, funk, and Afro-Brazilian/Colombian/Venezuelan inspired rhythms. More…
