Siranoush
CorpoLuz Theatre
Friday, September 30, 2022 – Sunday, October 2, 2022
Factory Theatre – Studio
75 minutes
A multimedia, multilingual one-woman show that explores the writer/performer’s desire to dig deeper into her cultural roots through a reimagining of Siranoush, a 19th century ethnic Armenian actress who was a trailblazer both on and off the stage. Tapping into ancestral knowledge and diasporic memory, the performance takes us across time and space to explore the power of theatre as a way of cultural survival and female empowerment.

About the artist
CorpoLuz Theatre is a collective that focuses on presenting and developing new works through a strong visual and physical theatre language. Our mission is to develop and stage interdisciplinary, intercultural and multilingual performances that explore minority identity, diasporic subjectivity and cultural memory. We’re driven by the question: “Whose story gets to be told?” “CorpoLuz” translates as “body’s light (in both Portuguese and Spanish) reflecting the endeavor of embodying and bringing to light stories otherwise untold, and reminding us that the body “re-members” more than we think.
