Aluna Theatre is thrilled to present the SIXTH edition of the RUTAS International Performing Arts Festival from September 26 to October 6, 2024, in partnership with Theatre Passe Muraille and Factory Theatre.

For two weeks we celebrate daring, passionate, and committed voices from across the Americas that bring to Toronto’s stages a conversation for these times of uncertainty. From theatre, to dance, to installations, performance actions, a photography exhibition, and a national gathering of artists, we come together to imagine better futures together.

With breathtaking performances and deeply personal stories, the artists this year offer a diversity of perspectives that inspire hope and renewal – art that challenges narratives of oppression, discrimination, migration, racism, belonging, identity and much more through wild acts of imagination, love, vulnerability, community engagement, inclusivity and resistance.

Personal Cartographies is the theme of this year’s festival. Through these personal archives, artists trace their lived experiences within the historical and socio-political context they inhabit. In their sharing with an audience the archives of their histories meet ours, helping us imagine the means by which to build better worlds.
