About the play:
Leo is a one-act play told from the perspective of a twenty-year-old pleasure centered man who has become a desaparecido (disappeared) in the Chilean military coup d’etat of 1973. Leo takes us on a journey through childhood, first friends, first loves and an abruptly ended adolescence.
This is third and final part of our presentation of Leo, by Rosa Labordé.
The story so far:
Leo, Rodrigo and Isolda are becoming an adolescent love triangle. Isolda and Leo are seen flirting intimately by Rodrigo, at the same time that an attraction between Leo and Rodrigo is on the rise. Rodrigo is a leader of the Socialist youth, participating in the reconstruction of the country. Leo and Isolda do not care about social issues the way he does.
Salvador Allende is elected: Chile is the first country to ever democratically elect a socialist president. But his Party faces strong opposition from right-wing parties, the private sector, and international interests. As political tensions rise in Chile, Rodrigo and Leo continue to passionately discuss their political views, fight, and eventually, the boys kiss.
