Applications for the CAMINOS 2025 festival are now open
Welcome to CAMINOS 2025 – we are thrilled to announce new changes to the festival!
Inspired by the amazing work presented since the first CAMINOS in 2015, we are renewing our commitment and vision. CAMINOS is an important platform for works-in-progress from the Latinx and other racialized and equity seeking artists who are changing the old narratives of what theatre should be. The festival invites these game changers to try out their ideas in front of an audience and a supportive community of peers.
CAMINOS curation includes theatre, dance, performance, interdisciplinary creations, and visual arts projects such as installations and photography.
CAMINOS is focused on presenting works on their feet, and not play readings. We want to encourage artists to think of theatre beyond the written word and to imagine the full world of their creation.
So are you ready to explore your ideas and bring them to a live audience?
This year CAMINOS will offer three presentation formats: 10, 30, or 60 minute showings:
PROPUESTAS – translated as “proposals” these 5-10 minute slots are meant to be executed on your feet with minimal design elements. If you have an idea in its early stages, this is for you. The PROPUESTAS allow you to craft a short piece that can become a great introduction to a larger work.
PROPUESTAS will all be presented on the same stage, so the set changes need to be quick.
20-30 minute presentations. This has been the model for CAMINOS in recent years. At this level the artist is ready to stage part of the material to test it out and to try some design concepts. It is also an opportunity to begin to work with a team of collaborators in the realization of the core concept. Presentations at this level need to have a team, and support material of the work-in-progress is required.
60 minute presentations. Are you getting closer to production? Then this might be for you. At this level the artist has a piece that needs that final push before it goes into the pre-production phase. It is an opportunity to present the world of the play and to test the choices so far. Presentations at this level need to have a team and an idea for where the future presentations may take place (You don’t need to have anything confirmed), and support material of the work-in-progress is required.
For visual arts / installation proposals, CAMINOS offers gallery space in Factory Theatre’s “glass box” lobby and potentially in areas throughout the venue, to suit the work.

More about CAMINOS
CAMINOS 2025 returns this year in its 6th edition from September 30 to October 5, 2025, presented in partnership with Factory Theatre. This festival of works-in-process has become an exciting platform for TransAmerican conversations as it celebrates IBPOC creators and creations, and those allies committed to diversity and equity practices.
“Caminos” translates as “many paths” and that’s what we embrace in curating this festival: we are interdisciplinary, intercultural, intergenerational, and multilingual. We are inviting performance provocations from across Canada in text, sound, dance, theatre, video, installations – you name it. We are open to all proposals.
