In search of an escape from poverty, an eleven-year-old girl leaves her village to join the Guerrilla and their armed insurgency deep in the jungles of Colombia. After six years of fighting she flees to Toronto under an assumed identity, where she must confront an even greater challenge: life as a civilian.

If children are the future, what kind of world are we building when we allow them to fight our wars? Is it a form of emancipation that more and more women are taking up arms and joining irregular armies?
