Workshop: Peeling with Betsy Swoon
THE ART OF PEELING with burlesque performer Betsy Swoon is an intimate and interactive workshop where the artist shares her approach to PEELING and REVEALING. In this workshop Betsy Swoon breaks down the art of the STRIP and the TEASE, offering her insights on the importance of music and timing when producing seductive performances.
As a multiracial woman Betsy Swoon’s art practice is directly informed by the lived experience of holding multiple identities in her body. Betsy’s performances challenge the categories of ”classic burlesque” or ”neo burlesque” that can sometimes act as barriers within the burlesque industry and community. Her performances highlight the complexities of visibility, identity and empowerment by mixing styles to produce a uniquely captivating experience.
In THE ART OF PEELING is a 2 hour introductory lesson in the art of the striptease.
